During the early 1980's, Lanny formed a jazz quintet with his brother Dave, "The Grilly Brothers," which featured such local greats as bassist, Mike Arnopol (Patricia Barber), and vibist, Kathy Kelly. The "Grilly Brothers" talented ensemble was featured at the 1980 Chicago Jazz Festival, where they opened for Ahmad Jamal. After many years of leading their own bands, Dave & Lanny recently reunited to re-form "The Grilly Brothers." They will be playing at the major jazz venues & jazz festivals such as; The legendary JAZZ SHOWCASE.
Dave is also a talented video producer, and Lanny and his partner, Jeff Kier own & operate Orchestra Hall Recording Studio in Chicago, Illinois
Their new CD "Goin' Places" has been recognized by THE GRAMMY'S and is on the ballot for nomination in 2010!!
Jeff Kier is currently a jazz pianist and composer for the Grilly Brothers, who perform
concerts. mainly in the in U.S. Jeff has also led his own band for many years Ð The Jeff Kier Quartet featuring Mike Hershenson. The group has been featured in many local clubs over the years such as Oz, Orphans, and The Bulls. In addition, Jeff is a music director for the Comedy Shrine Improv Troupe who perform regularly in the Chicago area. Jeff earned his B.A. degree as a Liberal Arts music major at the University of Illinois. Jeff is also the co-owner of Orchestra Hall Recording Studio. Jeff recently wrote
all the compositions for The Grilly Brothers new CD release, “Goin’ Places,” which
has earned a spot on the ballot for the 2010 Grammy Awards
Besides touring with the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra, Nick has played for such entertainment superstars as: Sammy Davis, Jr., Bill Cosby, Melissa Manchester, Rich Little ,John Denver ,The Spinners ,The Temptations , Gladys Knight and the Pips, Patti Page, Frankie Lane , Della Resse , Carole Lawrence, Robert Goulet, Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme, Fred Rogers (Mr.Rogers), Bobby Vinton, Vic Damone, Frankie Avalon, Diahann Carroll, Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Helen O'Connell, Pat Boone, Lawrence Welk All Stars (Myron Floren and Company), Dick Shawn, George Kirby, Jack Jones, Liberace, Julie Budd,Tex Beneke and these are just to name a few.

Brian Sandstrom has been one of the most in-demand bass players in the Chicago area.
His versatility in Jazz, Blues, Folk, and Classical music is reflected in his being first call for such renowned
musicians, such as, Von Freeman, Hal Russell, Johnny Frigo, Ira Sullivan, Clifford Jordan, Junior Wells, Frank Portolese, Herbert Sumlin,
Ed Peterson, Ken Vandermark, Mars Williams, Rusty Jones, Shawn Colvin, Willie Pickens, RobertShy - the list goes on & on.
Brian toured with the NRG Ensemble, founded by Hal Russell, for many years both nationally & Europe. Brian also composed
music for the group, and many critcs felt that this band was on par with Ornette Coleman's ensembles.
Brian wrote the music and was featured in this inspired music video ("Pontiac") by the NRG Ensemble,
which mocked the MTV craze in the '80's.
Brian also has been featured on many recordings (over 35) for such labels as ECM, Delmark, Okadisc, Nessa, and Southport Sound.
Howard Reich, jazz critic for the Chicago Tribune, in reviewing a live performance of the Scott Holman trio, wrote:
"With a rhythm section featuring bassist Brian Sandstrom, its not difficult to understand why listeners have been turning out.
A first rate player, he swings effortlessly and has a 'penchant for unexpected chord changes...it's no wonder why
Brian is one of the busiest bass players in Chicago."
Eddie Mason's famed career as a percussion istgoes back to the 1960Õs when he was an on-call session musician during the height of the Chicago recording scene. Eddie lent his Òfat grooveÓ to many records, demoÕs, and jingles.
He was a favorite of producers since his versatile musical talent spanned R&B, Be-bop, Modern Jazz, Rock, Latin, Disco, and Dance music.
Eddie also toured with such groups as: Tooth & Nail, Circle of Capricorn, backed up the Mo Ming Dance Group, the Columbia Dance Troup, and he was with Don StroudÕs ÒRockestraÓ for 10 years. Eddie also played with every member of the Miles Davis Band during the late Ô80Õs.
For the last 15 years, Eddie has been devoted to his work as a Music Therapist in nursing and rehab centers. He now owns his own music therapy company, MasonÕs Music Workshop, LLC. Eddie loves healing and making others happy with his music. His philosophy is ÒMusic is an expression of freedom for me.Ó
